McCartney takes the Roundhouse

Paul McCartney has announced a live in conversation event around The Boys Of Dungeon Lane, his new solo album, taking place at the Roundhouse in Camden Town on Wednesday June 10. According to NME, tickets went on sale at 10am BST on June 3.

The evening promises a rare, first-hand account of how the record came together, from McCartney's first meeting with producer Andrew Watt in 2021 all the way through to the finished LP. Audiences can expect stories about the recording process, the development of the album artwork, and, crucially, what it was like to duet with Ringo Starr for the very first time.

A record rooted in memory

The Boys Of Dungeon Lane was released on May 29, marking McCartney's first solo album since McCartney III in 2020. The 14-track project looks back at his Liverpool childhood, his parents' resilience, and early adventures with George Harrison and John Lennon before The Beatles existed as we know them.

NME gave the album four stars, calling it "a guided tour of the long and winding road." The same review singled out "Home To Us," the duet with Ringo Starr, as a landmark moment: his first-ever recorded collaboration with his former bandmate.

Still writing, still performing

McCartney, who is 83, spoke to NME about his continued drive to create and perform. He is aware that fans have very few opportunities left to hear music from his era played live, and he has shown no interest in stepping away. "Creative satisfaction is just writing a song," he told NME. "It's still the same old satisfaction that it was."

The Roundhouse event is one of the more intimate settings McCartney has appeared in recently, and for anyone curious about the craft and memory behind this album, it looks like the closest thing to a director's commentary you are going to get.
