The numbers behind British music money

The Sunday Times Rich List is out this weekend, and the music world features prominently. According to NME, the annual ranking of the 350 wealthiest people in Britain puts Sir Paul McCartney and Lady Nancy McCartney at an estimated worth of £1.055 billion, the highest position for any popular musician on the list.

Elton John (£480 million), Mick Jagger and Keith Richards (both at £450 million), and Ed Sheeran (£410 million) also place in the top ten for music figures.

New entries worth noting

The Oasis reunion tour has had a measurable financial effect. Noel and Liam Gallagher appear on the list for the first time, with a projected fortune of £375 million. Emily Eavis and her family, the organisers behind Glastonbury Festival, are also new entries, listed at £400 million.

The Oasis Live '25 tour ran 41 dates worldwide, opening in Cardiff and closing in São Paulo. No further dates have been confirmed, though Liam Gallagher has suggested activity in 2027 is likely.
