The Season 51 finale of Saturday Night Live brings together two heavy hitters. According to Billboard, Paul McCartney is set as musical guest for the May 16 episode, marking his fifth performance on the show since 1980 and earning him a spot in the program's informal "Five-Timers Club." Hosting duties go to Will Ferrell, who returns for his sixth time as host.

What to expect

McCartney's appearance comes at a well-timed moment. His new album, The Boys of Dungeon Lane, is set for release on May 29, just days after the broadcast. Billboard has also noted some playful speculation online about whether Ferrell and cast member Marcello Hernandez might coax McCartney into performing "Despacito," though nothing has been confirmed.

For his part, Ferrell is also in promotional mode. His new Netflix comedy series, The Hawk, is scheduled to drop on July 16.
