Olivia Rodrigo's 'The Cure' debuts at No. 1 on Hot Rock & Alternative Songs
The Cure lands Olivia Rodrigo her third chart-topper on Hot Rock & Alternative Songs, debuting with 19.7 million streams in its first week.

Third time at the top
Olivia Rodrigo has debuted "The Cure" at No. 1 on Billboard's Hot Rock & Alternative Songs chart, making it her third leader on that ranking. According to Billboard, the song accumulated 19.7 million chart-eligible streams, 292,000 in radio audience impressions and 9,000 copies sold in the United States in the week ending May 28, the week following its May 22 release.
The milestone is notable for another reason: Rodrigo now has a No. 1 on these charts from each of her three studio albums. "Brutal" topped the list in 2021, "Bad Idea Right?" did the same in 2023, and "The Cure" carries the streak into the era of her forthcoming third record.
Hot 100 and beyond
The track's streaming and sales numbers were enough to place it at No. 1 on both the Alternative Streaming Songs and Alternative Digital Song Sales charts as well, the latter being her first leader on that specific ranking. On the all-genre Billboard Hot 100, "The Cure" bows at No. 5, becoming Rodrigo's sixth top-five entry and eighth top 10 on that chart. She now counts four No. 1s on the Hot 100 across her career.
Across both Hot Rock & Alternative Songs and Hot Alternative Songs, Rodrigo has now charted 13 titles, 11 of which have reached the top 10.
Album incoming
The No. 1 arrives weeks before her third album, You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love, which is due June 12 via Geffen/Capitol Interscope. Its lead single "Drop Dead" had already debuted at No. 1 in May and is currently rising on radio, landing at No. 8 on the Pop Airplay chart. On the latest Hot Rock & Alternative Songs list, "Drop Dead" jumps from No. 30 to No. 12, marking the greatest streaming gain of the week at 13 million streams, a 13% increase.
