Mick Jagger says Rolling Stones tour is coming 'as soon as possible'
Jagger told BBC Radio 2 he can't wait to hit the road again, though he ruled out any dates for 2025 while the band prepares to release Foreign Tongues in July.

Jagger wants back on the road, just not yet
Mick Jagger has made clear that a Rolling Stones tour is a matter of when, not if. Speaking on BBC Radio 2's Tracks of My Years, the frontman said he would "love to go on tour" and that he "can't wait," while also tempering expectations: "I don't think it's going to be this year. But hopefully it's going to be as soon as possible." According to NME, those comments land in a context already charged with speculation, after Keith Richards recently hinted the band might hit the road in 2027.
A tour cancelled, a record incoming
The road back to touring has not been smooth. In late 2025, the Stones confirmed they had scrapped plans for a UK and European stadium tour in 2026 because Richards was unable to "commit" to it. That left a gap the band has been filling with studio work instead.
The result is Foreign Tongues, their 25th studio album, due July 10 via Polydor/Universal Music. The record was cut in under a month at Metropolis Studios in West London, with production from Andrew Watt, who also helmed 2024's Hackney Diamonds. Jagger described the sessions as "a very intense few weeks" and praised the studio's intimacy: "It's not too big so you can feel the passion in the room from everyone."
A guest list that reads like a hall of fame
The album features appearances from Paul McCartney, Robert Smith of The Cure, Steve Winwood, and the late Charlie Watts. Jagger recounted meeting Smith almost by accident at a media event in New York: "He was standing there with his back to me and this long gown on and when he turned around, he was covered in lipstick. And I said, 'While you're here, you better go and do something.' That's how collaborations work sometimes."
McCartney, appearing for the second time on a Stones record after Hackney Diamonds, told NME in their In Conversation series that he was glad he "wasn't blasé about it." "I'm playing with the Stones!" he recalled thinking during the session.
The album includes previously released tracks 'Rough And Twisted' and 'In The Stars', plus a cover of the Amy Winehouse classic 'You Know I'm No Good'. The full tracklist surfaced earlier this month when song titles appeared on streaming platforms written in their actual foreign languages.
