Madonna and Peggy Gou drop a bouncy remix of 'I Feel So Free'
The South Korean DJ puts an 80s-tinged spin on the lead single from Confessions II, Madonna's 15th studio album.
The first official remix of the Confessions II era
Madonna and Peggy Gou have released a remix of "I Feel So Free," the lead single from Madonna's upcoming album Confessions II. According to Billboard, the edit carries a clear 80s throwback feel, drawing comparisons to Stock Aitken Waterman's production on Dead Or Alive's "You Spin Me Round," with thunderclaps, addictive beats, and a synth bassline doing most of the heavy lifting.
The original version of the track was released on April 17 and appears to open Confessions II. The remix arrives shortly after the May 14 announcement of the album's tracklist, which surfaced through a guerrilla marketing campaign that placed posters in several major cities around the world.
What we know about Confessions II
Confessions II is Madonna's 15th studio album and a follow-up to her 2005 record Confessions On a Dancefloor, which won the 2007 Grammy for best dance/electronic album. Stuart Price, who produced the original album, is back as producer for the sequel.
The tracklist revealed through the posters is as follows:
Side 1
- I Feel So Free
- Good for the Soul
- One Step Away
- Bring Your Love
- Danceteria
- Read My Lips
Side 2
- Everything
- Love Without Words
- Bizarre
- School
- Fragile
- My Sins Are My Savior
Peggy Gou's involvement marks her as the first outside collaborator to put a public stamp on this era, and the choice makes sense given her standing in the global dance music world. Whether the rest of the remix campaign reaches this level of energy is a question worth watching.
