Lady Gaga buries the MAYHEM era with a funeral procession and a reimagined live album
Gaga led a funeral procession at The Grove in Los Angeles before screening MAYHEM Requiem, a stripped-down reimagining of her Billboard 200 chart-topper, now on Apple Music.

A funeral for an era
Lady Gaga does not close chapters quietly. On May 14, she took over the AMC Theater at The Grove in Los Angeles dressed in a black-and-red corseted dress and a fishnet veil, leading her dancers through a full funeral procession before a crowd of Little Monsters. A marching band played somber jazz arrangements of Hot 100 hits "Abracadabra" and "Disease" as the procession made its way to the theater entrance. The occasion was the one-night-only screening of MAYHEM Requiem, her filmed concert experience.
What MAYHEM Requiem actually is
The performance was originally filmed in January at The Wiltern in Los Angeles, according to Billboard. Around 1,850 fans, many of them in costume, attended what was a no-phones-allowed, one-night-only show produced in partnership with Apple Music. The concept, as Gaga explained to the audience at The Grove, grew out of a conversation with Michael Polansky about what would happen if the opera house set from her arena tour, The Mayhem Ball, was "reduced to rubble."
The result is a full reimagining of MAYHEM, her 2025 Billboard 200 chart-topping album. "Zombieboy" received a synth-forward revamp, "Abracadabra" opened with a stripped piano intro, and "How Bad Do You Want Me?" was rebuilt as a rock track. The show ends with "Die With a Smile," another Hot 100 chart-topper, which prompted the band members watching from the audience to stand and cheer.
Available now on Apple Music
Both the live album and the filmed concert experience are streaming exclusively on Apple Music. A 15-minute behind-the-scenes companion piece is also available on-demand on the platform. For an album cycle that moved through arenas and a Coachella headline slot, MAYHEM Requiem feels like the right kind of ending: intimate, deliberate, and very much on Gaga's own terms.
