2026 SESAC Latina Music Awards: the big winners

The 2026 SESAC Latina Music Awards ceremony landed on Wednesday, May 27, at the Fairmont Century Plaza in Los Angeles. According to Billboard, three names dominated the night: Kapo, Edén Muñoz, and Sony Music Publishing, which walked away with publisher of the year after accumulating 13 award-winning songs across both award genres.

Kapo makes history in his first win

For the first time, Kapo was named pop/Latin rhythm songwriter of the year. The recognition covers a run of collaborative singles, including "Más Que Tú" with Ozuna, "Imagínate" with Danny Ocean, and "Luna" with Wisin. He also performed live at the event, where he continued to position himself as a rising voice in Spanish-language Afrobeats.

Edén Muñoz wins regional Mexican songwriter of the year for the fifth time

Edén Muñoz took regional Mexican songwriter of the year, a title he has now claimed five times. His song "Lejos Estamos Mejor" also won regional Mexican song of the year, doubling his haul on the night.

"En Privado" takes pop/Latin rhythm song of the year

The pop/Latin rhythm song of the year went to "En Privado," a bachata-inspired track written by Manuel Turizo and Kemzo and published by MTZ Publishing, La Industria Music Publishing, and Sony Sounds. Performed by Xavi and Turizo, the song is included in Xavi's 2026 album Dosis and reached No. 1 on Billboard's Latin Airplay and Tropical Airplay charts.
