Julia Roberts and Lily Gladstone join Rise Up, Sing Out lineup alongside Patti Smith and Bette Midler
The First Amendment concert at NYC's Town Hall on June 14 keeps growing, with two major Hollywood names now confirmed alongside an already star-studded bill.

A growing lineup for a political night
The Rise Up, Sing Out concert keeps adding names. According to Billboard, actresses Julia Roberts and Lily Gladstone are now confirmed participants in Rise Up, Sing Out: A Concert for the First Amendment, joining previously announced performers including Bette Midler, Patti Smith and Rufus Wainwright. The event takes place at New York City's Town Hall on June 14 at 7:30 p.m. ET.
Who else is on the bill
Monday's announcement also added Wilson Cruz, Peppermint, Jenn Colella, Alex Joseph Grayson, Singing Resistance, Rude Mechanical Orchestra, Kayla Davion and Rev. Adriene Thorne to the lineup. Previously confirmed appearances include Jane Fonda, who founded the Committee for the First Amendment, plus Joy Reid, Sasha Allen and Broadway Inspirational Voices.
The politics behind the performance
The concert describes itself as "an uplifting evening of song, solidarity, and action," framing the night as a response to what organizers call authoritarian shifts threatening democracy. All ticket proceeds go to the Committee for the First Amendment. For those not in New York, the event will also be available as a free livestream.
The production team is led by director Schele Williams, music director Mary Mitchell Campbell and producers Bruce Cohen and rigor + ruckus. The script is by Bess Kalb.
To coincide with the concert, No Kings Coalition is organizing a nationwide day of action on June 14, encouraging watch parties across the country. Tickets are available at riseupsingout.com and on Ticketmaster.
Patti Smith and her peers have spent decades using music as protest. Whether a single evening at Town Hall moves any needle is a fair question, but the event is shaping up to be one of the more ambitious political benefit concerts in recent memory.
