Hermanos Gutiérrez announce Los Ojos del Cóndor, out in September via Easy Eye Sound
The sibling instrumental duo returns with a new album rooted in Andean sounds, set for release this September on Easy Eye Sound.
A journey to the Andes
Hermanos Gutiérrez, the sibling instrumental guitar duo, have announced their new album Los Ojos del Cóndor, due out in September via Easy Eye Sound. According to Rolling Stone, the record finds the brothers pushing their signature guitar-driven sound toward Andean territory, as previewed on the lead track 'Canto Andino'.
The pair have built a following on the strength of richly textured, wordless compositions that draw from Latin American folk traditions. Hermanos Gutiérrez sit comfortably in that rare space where instrumental music earns genuine crossover attention, and Easy Eye Sound, the label run by Dan Auerbach of The Black Keys, gives them a home with a strong track record for that kind of unhurried, craft-first approach.
What to expect
'Canto Andino' signals a deliberate geographical and emotional shift. The Andes have their own deep well of string music and rhythmic language, and filtering that through the brothers' style of playing is a promising premise. Whether the full album sustains that focus or broadens out remains to be heard, but the direction feels considered rather than opportunistic.
No tracklist or guest collaborators have been confirmed beyond what Rolling Stone has reported. The Los Ojos del Cóndor album page will be updated as more details arrive. September is not far off.
