Dara wins Eurovision 2026 for Bulgaria with 'Bangaranga' in Vienna
Bulgaria claimed its first-ever Eurovision victory on May 17 as Dara's electronic folk anthem 'Bangaranga' topped the Grand Final in Vienna.

Bulgaria's first Eurovision win
Dara winning Eurovision 2026 is the kind of result that rewrites a country's relationship with the contest. On Saturday, May 17, the Bulgarian pop star performed 'Bangaranga' at the Wiener Stadthalle in Vienna and walked away with Bulgaria's first-ever Grand Final victory, according to Billboard. The track, an electronic anthem built around Bulgarian folk influences, had already emerged as one of the competition's standout moments before the votes were tallied.
Israel finished second and Romania third. Results were decided by a combined vote from national juries and viewers across 35 participating countries.
A strong night for Australia too
Delta Goodrem, representing Australia, placed fourth with her power ballad 'Eclipse', described by Billboard as the country's strongest Eurovision result in several years. Her staging moved from a moonlit dreamscape to a gold sunscape, and she wore a custom couture gown by Velani By Nicky and House of Emmanuele, adorned with more than 7,000 Swarovski crystals.
'Eclipse' was written by Goodrem alongside Ferras Alqaisi, Jonas Myrin, and Michael Fatkin, with Fatkin also producing. Goodrem has previously written songs for Celine Dion and collaborated with the late Olivia Newton-John.
Goodrem's next chapter
The Eurovision campaign doubled as a launchpad for a new era in Goodrem's career. She announced her eighth studio album, Pure, set for release on November 6, her first full-length project in five years. The 16-track record is described as balancing piano-led intimacy with cinematic production. Ahead of release, she will preview new material through a series of 'Pure: Prelude' performances.
For Eurovision coverage and artist profiles, the contest once again proved it remains one of pop music's most unpredictable stages.
